Who we are

Educational Broadcast Services is a unit of the Division of Marketing and Communications at Texas A&M University that includes public broadcasting stations KAMU-TV and KAMU-FM. KAMU exists primarily to provide public broadcasting to the Brazos Valley with PBS, NPR, and locally produced content. KAMU operates two HD television studios and a radio studio with state-of-the-art digital broadcast and production equipment, including video editing and digital audio technology. In addition to the broadcast mission, the station provides contract production services to the university community. Both stations are staffed by a combination of full-time employees, student workers and volunteers to provide the necessary leadership, manpower and programming.

The Production and Content Coordinator will be critical to television and video production as a story developer, coordinator, writer, researcher and logistical specialist. This person will create and nurture collaboration between writers, academics and story subjects with videographers, editors and graphic artists in content creation efforts. Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years of related experience in video production/editing or multimedia production programming.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a self-motivated environment.
Proficiency with PC based editing systems and utilities.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in radio/television/film, communications media, or a closely related degree.
Professional experience in a non-commercial or Commercial TV environment, post-production facility, or student internship in broadcast production or radio environment. Experience in a creative work environment producing photography and video projects. Experience with industry-standard software and hardware to support high-quality multimedia production in a higher education context.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Software Proficiencies: Adobe Premiere Pro and Audition, After Effects, Photoshop, and DaVinci Resolve.
Ability to work within tight time and budget constraints.
Attentive to detail and meet customer needs.
Familiarity with producing content on a quick turnaround for real-time distribution through social media channels.

Responsibilities:
Broadcast Television Production - Creates, cultivates, and pitches story ideas for KAMU TV locally-made programming. Evaluates production programming activities and recommends changes. Organizes scheduling, invitations and bookings for story shoots, including arranging calendars with interviewee staff, crew schedules, student schedules and engineer roster. Cuts program video promotional material for television and social and publishes it to the larger PBS network. Contributes scriptwriting for shows. Coordinates with the Managing Editor to arrange all aspects of show shoot production both in-studio and in the field, including planning lighting, backdrops, monitors, images, audio, scripts, camera needs. Tracks, logs, reserves, and distributes equipment as needed. Assists in the coordination of social media collaboration. Assists with preparing and monitoring broadcast television budget. Tracks down rogue wireless mics and collects memory cards.

Producing - Collaborates with the Division of Marketing and Communications’ news team on story idea mining. Assists with coordinating program communications and marketing. Coordinates with Managing Editor and Division of Marketing and Communications’ news team to pursue follow up communication with potential interview subjects for shows. Books studio time, engineers, and talent for show studio shoots and voice-over recordings. Produces promotional spots for air on KAMU TV and FM. Coordinates with editors to ensure show files are delivered accurately and in necessary formatting for TV Master Control, larger PBS networks and social. Meets the varied deadline for show publication through TV Master Control, large PBS networks and social media. Oversees and maintains equipment/gear for shoots, making sure equipment is organized, equipment repairs are processed with engineers, accurate logs are kept of borrowed equipment, batteries/lights/etc. are charged and accounted for before shoot.

General - Assists in Video Production Department’s general programming needs: remote event coverage, show and internal one-off shoot needs, asset needs, etc. Provides general logistical support for the Managing Editor and Production Team.

Serves as a point of contact for new TV production event inquiries. Researches and recommends production improvement. Maintains program records and compiles relevant analytics to meet KAMU community archiving requirements. Plans and coordinates production meetings. Maintains records of production meetings, taking notes, recounting meeting topics and distributing amongst staff.

Other Duties - Performs other duties as assigned.
