Fred Wilson, a mindfully provocative New York City artist, world-renowned for his critique of the Eurocentric art establishment, is thrust into a debate seeped in the history of Indianapolis' Midwestern racial contests. As he struggles to both understand the city's enmity and be understood by its Black community, he must come to terms with the cancelation of his sculpture, and in so doing, re-evaluate what his art means and for whom it speaks.
