The Fred Effect is a biographical documentary about Fred Goldberg: business man, art collector, and philanthropist. Born and raised in Olympia, Washington, Fred Goldberg has never accepted that there was only one path in life. His reach extends far beyond his home town, effecting issues like pharmaceutical distribution, ethics in business, and innumerable lives around him. Fred’s professional history is a deep and varied one. He has gone from business school, to the family furniture store, to banking, to the global transportation industry, etc. But, even more fascinating than Fred’s professional outlook is his moral one. Besides being a force for good on a global scale, he impacts every life around him. Collected here are the stories of Fred and his life’s work of ethics. From working towards better access to Tuberculosis medication, to giving a stranger a ride home in the rain; big and small, Fred’s work is as important as it is eclectic. Currently, Fred is retired, though he serves on the Board of Trustees for The Evergreen State College, and lives with his wife, Carolyn, in Olympia, Washington.
