As a Cinematographer I use composition, lighting, camera movement and blocking as a way to communicate to the viewer, sometimes in a subconscious way, layers of meaning, emotion and sub-text within a script or situation. In other words, not everything needs to be told in the form of dialogue or acting because the camera can also tell the story...or better yet, show the story.
