Job Description

CAMERA ASSISTANT / DIT - WHITEHORSE

Whitehorse, Yukon contract position

Non-union, freelance for documentary televisions series, small crew

$350 / day - negotiable based on experience

Part-time - Estimating 1 - 3 days per week

Starting Date: January 8th or 15th, 2024

End Date: approx. March 2024 (to be confirmed)

Responsibilities:
- Assisting the Camera crew on shoots
- Managing mini-cams: Osmos, DJI Pocket, GoPro, etc.
- Charging batteries, slating shots, greeting
- Carrying and loading equipment
- Setting up cameras and tripods
- Managing & labelling media on set
- Downloading and backing up shot media
- Driving and running errands, purchasing supplies, organizing equipment
- Keeping track of petty cash receipts
- Assisting on shoots with releases, Scanning and filling releases
- Filing out the tape log, media tracker and daily production reports
- General assisting duties when no PA on set such as stocking crafty for the crew, helping keep the production office and production vehicles tidy, shipping & communicating with production office

Requirements:
- Must be Whitehorse based, has lived in the Yukon for at least one year (paid 2023 taxes in the Yukon)
- Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Has a valid drivers license and a clean driving record
- Vehicle in good working order, insured to use for work
- Good and safe driver, minimum 21 yrs old, but 25 yrs old and over preferred
- Some camera assisting experience and experience on film, tv or commercial shoots
- Some camera & media familiarity, especially FS7, FX9, DSLR, osmo, GoPro, DJI pocket & drone
- Laptop and cell phone
- Excellent communication skills
- Written and spoken English
- Comfortable with Google drive, Google sheets, Google docs, and email

Beneficial Skills / Background / Assets:
- Has worked and/or has studied film or television production
- Vehicle in good working order, insured to use for work
- Organized, reliable, diligent, proactive, resourceful, and attentive to details
- Able to handle multiple changing priorities
- Willingness to learn with a positive attitude
- Familiar with Shotput Pro
