As the son of an "Italian Barber", Anthony 'Chip' DeMay learned the art of Hairdressing at a very young age. Joining the Glemby Company in 1974, a prestigious, worldwide chain of beauty salons, he rose from Stylist to Style Director for the John Wanamaker group of salons based in Philadelphia. In 1980 he transferred to Glemby's flagship salon, the famed "Garren at the Plaza" in New York City. He was "Discovered" after cutting the hair of legendary Vogue Fashion Editor Polly Mellon and fellow editor Vera Wang. It has been said that Anthony DeMay has worked with every major US & International fashion & beauty magazine ever published in the 80's. He became well known for his "Real Women" makeovers, working to create Beauty how-to stories for Glamour, Mademoiselle, Ladies Home Journel and Good Housekeeping. He appeared in the Hearst Co. produced video "Cosmo's 20 minute makeover" that went on to sell a million copies. He has worked with the top photographers in the world including Patrick Demarchelier, Steven Meisel, Bill King, Norman Parkinson, Horst B. Horst, Sante D'Orazio, Herb Ritts, Michel Comte & Andy Warhol. He worked on music videos from Sheena Easton to the Rolling Stones and represented Glemby International & L'Oreal on stage & in the press.
