Solitary Refinement" traces a moments of an offbeat and intense 24 year old girl's night at at legendary Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett. We see this girl fight with her friend over a boy and it's aftermath. Beneath the very deliberate surface level story and setting lies an exploration of the fundamental values in contemporary society such as capitalism, competition, importance of individuality, formation of self, and ending with unexpected link between solitary confinement and being a victim of a grotesque in succinct way. It's brilliant in that it manages to be both simple and complex. Characters will be in upbeat 70s prep fun wardrobe in contrast too moody low fi lighting and claustrophobic suspenseful shots.
