FIELD COORDINATOR / FIXER / LOCAL LIASON - SMALL DOCUMENTARY TV CREW - WHITEHORSE / YUKON

Part-Time contract position, with opportunity for full time

Whitehorse, Yukon

Non-union, freelance, MUST LIVE IN THE YUKON

Starting Range $275+ /day, based on experience/hrs

Starting Date: After July 24, 2023, start date flexible

End Date: to be confirmed, summer/fall/winter potentially

On the job mentorship and training will be provided for this role.

Some experience in film & television is required. Possibility of local travel / overnights all within the Yukon for shoots.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate for this position is someone with a background in film and television who has some experience working as a coordinator, assistant director, producer’s assistant, PM, or location manager, who would like to work towards becoming a Documentary Television Producer. Because it’s a very small documentary TV crew, everyone on the crew helps out with a variety of tasks, which could include anything from scouting locations and sourcing equipment, to putting gas in a vehicle, picking up lunch or coffee for the team, loading equipment or taking out the garbage. Having a positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed is key in this position, as it is in all positions on the team. On the job mentorship and training will be provided for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate communications with local agencies, communities and stakeholders
Secure permission to film at desired filming locations
Introduce the film crew to potential subjects, communicate clearly filming goals
Inform potential subjects of their rights and explain the filming release
Provide local contacts for services
Source materials locally as needed for film crews
Schedule filming with participants
Communicate filming schedule to participants and film crew
Assist the director with notes during filming
Flagging clearance issues
Tracking continuity and story beats
Communicating regularly with the Produciton office
Help with errands that could include driving, purchasing supplies, labelling, filing
Scan and file releases and petty cash receipts if needed
Requirements:
Yukon based, preferably Whitehorse based, has lived in the Yukon for at least one year (paid 2023 taxes in the Yukon)
Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
Experience working in Film & Television
Has a valid drivers license and a clean driving record
Good and safe driver over 25 years of age
Excellent communication skills
Written and spoken English
Comfortable with Google drive, Google sheets, Google docs, and email

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Excellent people skills, works well with others, comfortable doing community outreach
Is a longtime resident of the Yukon with a lot of local knowledge and connections
Laptop and cell phone
Vehicle in good working order with business use insurance on it
Familiarity with the various First Nations' traditional territories
Sensitivity and knowledge regarding local customs
Ability to work well with people from all different backgrounds and communities
Outgoing, upbeat, flexible, resourceful with good problem solving skills
Able to handle multiple changing priorities and respond to issues in a calm and collected manner
Willingness to learn and a positive attitude
