Job Description

Plot Summary:
Digby, an art school undergrad, struggles to study for a final exam tomorrow. His friend, Eli convinces him to ditch the study session and join her on a mission to obtain a drug they’ve only dreamed of. Eli’s constant manipulation and a drug deal gone wrong makes Digby admit that this relationship is more toxic than he realized.

Goals for the Project:
To portray the harsh reality of a toxic relationship where one is manipulated by the other.
To convey the themes of addiction, manipulation, relationship dependency, young naiveté, and the need for autonomy.
A creative and collaborative environment where everyone is treated with respect.

Requirements:
Must have film production experience.
Willing to work night shoots.
Willing to make a creative commitment. Here for the art, not the money. This is a small budget independent film.

Experience shooting night exteriors

Access to own gear is a plus
Experience with Blackmagic 4K or 6K is a plus

Responsibilities:
Scout locations
Creating a storyboard and shot list with Director
Plan equipment rental
Work with the AC and lighting department to setup each scene
Shoot each scene
Review dailies

Crew Interviews: January 20-25
Shoot: Mid March

Director's Bio:
Nick Shadix is a young filmmaker from San Francisco. His recent directing projects include short films, music videos, documentaries, and experimental films. His work as a DP on the short film, “Papa” directed by Ella Gillmor, has been nominated for best experimental short at many festivals. It won best cinematography at one festival. His documentary about the California wildfire experience, “Evacuate Santa Cruz,” was nominated for best documentary short at the San Francisco Indie Short Festival and at the Global Independent Film Festival. He is also passionate about photography and specializes in concert and skate photos. This short film will be his most ambitious project yet.
