Job Description

Production Technician (Temporary)

This posting will be used to fill four Production Technician positions within Senate Media Services.

Reports To: Director of Broadcast Engineering and Operations

Salary: Minimum $17.10/hour

This position is open to all qualified job seekers.

This position will be on site in the Minnesota Senate Building.

This position is a temporary position with an anticipated start of January 24, 2022 and will continue until the end of the 2022 legislative session, which is expected to end May 2022.

Position Summary
The Production Technician assists in the live television broadcast productions of Senate floor sessions, committee hearings and press conferences using a variety of broadcast and video streaming equipment, including production switchers, robotic and studio cameras, graphic systems, digital recording equipment, audio mixing boards and desktop streaming software.

Primary Responsibilities
Provide television and video streaming production services for the Minnesota Senate.
Operate a variety of television broadcast equipment, including production switchers, robotic and studio cameras, graphic systems, digital recording equipment and audio mixing boards.
Operate desktop hardware and software for live web-based streaming of committee hearings and press conferences.
Work closely with the Engineering and Operations Director and the Production Coordinator to ensure that production assignments and production standards are being met.
Communicate effectively with producers and other production personnel.
Be prepared to direct and technically direct live television productions.
Operate ENG field production television equipment.

Minimum Qualifications
One (1) year of experience in Broadcast News, Cable Television Production, Industrial Video Production, or related.

In addition to the qualifications listed above, applicants must demonstrate:

Familiarity with Open Broadcasting Software (OBS).
Ability to work long hours and under pressure during the legislative session.
Ability to work collaboratively with Senate Media team.
Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with Senate staff and members.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the technical and aesthetic production aspects of visual communications.
Experience serving as a crew member for live television productions.
Ability to learn quickly and retain information.
Ability to follow directions and perform assigned tasks.
Strong work ethic and ability to work under minimal supervision.
