Fixed-term contract for c.10 months working specifically on the delivery of 59’s Festival UK 2022 Project
Salary: £45,000 (pro rata for 10 months £37,000)
Annual Leave: 23 Days, plus 8 public holidays (pro rata for 10 month fixed term contract)
Works with: Works with: Creative Director, Producing, Design and Technical & Production teams at 59, Stemettes, The Poetry Society and local project teams in locations around the UK
The role is full time, and you will be expected to work exclusively on this project for the duration of the engagement.

ABOUT FESTIVAL ‘22
Festival UK* 2022 will take place across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. It will deliver a programme of ground-breaking new commissions with the ambition of reaching millions; bringing people together and promoting the UK’s creativity to the world. Ten creative projects have been selected following an extensive R&D programme and rigorous assessment process to form the Festival’s commissioned programme.
Led by Chief Creative Officer, Martin Green CBE, a new organisation, Festival 2022 Ltd, has been established in Birmingham to curate, manage and promote the Festival; working with strategic delivery bodies within each nation to devise, deliver and commission the programme. The Festival will demonstrate the important role that creativity plays in our lives, as well as providing unforgettable experiences. This investment comes at a time of need for sectors impacted by the global pandemic and will support the creation of work and jobs.
We are looking for a dynamic producer with excellent engagement experience. You will have a broad range of networks and connections and it will be of great benefit if these span across the UK. You will also have the ability to expertly forge new connections and to build trust fast. You will be a true collaborator who understands the importance of the project as a whole and how each of the projects’ many elements feed into each other. Whilst you will have specialist engagement experience, you will also have a deep level of understanding of large-scale projects and an ability to see the big picture. Like us, you will be driven by a passion for telling stories, and for being part of a piece of work that aims to amaze audiences and those who engage with the project at all levels.
• Establish the engagement programme and delivery framework in each of the five cities where our project will take place
• Oversee and coordinate the delivery of a range of local and national engagement activities including community consultation, community participation and cocreation and a digital outreach offer.
• Recruit and manage suitable staffing resources including producing or workshop facilitating support in each of the 5 locations
• Initiate and manage local and regional engagement partnerships with arts, cultural, public and private organisations to enable engagement routes which reach audience and participation across communities
• Work closely with our partners Stemettes and the Poetry Society, who will be delivering the Schools Programme, to ensure the engagement offer is cohesive across the project
• Work closely with the Creative Team as well as 59’s in-house Design, Producing and Technical teams, to ensure the engagement programme produces content that matches the ambition of the project
• Liaise with local council and authorities in each location, involving them in the project from the outset in collaboration with the Location Manager
• Design and implement safeguarding policies, including any necessary Covid regulations
• Work with the marketing team to support targeted marketing campaigns for our specified groups
• Champion and promote inclusion and accessibility across all aspects of engagement
• Actively engage in the project’s vision and policies regarding equal opportunities and diversity, inclusion, sustainability, health and safety, evaluation and monitoring
• Significant experience in setting up and running engagement projects in the arts
• Experience of creating and managing a co-creation process in community settings
• An imaginative and solution focused attitude to work both as a leader and a team member
• Experience of setting up a delivery team on the ground from scratch
• Experience of creating and managing budgets in Excel
• Understanding of how to encourage creative collaboration between a variety of different participants
• Commitment to championing representation and inclusion at every level with a proven ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds
This role will be partly based out of our London office, partly remote/home working; you will need to be willing to travel around the country, as well as able to work flexibly some weekends and evenings.
