Job Description

JOB TITLE: Drama Development Assistant – 8 week contract.
REPORTS TO: Manager of Drama Development
START DATE: TBC, late August / early September 2018
DEPARTMENT: Scripted Development
HOURS: 40 hours per week. Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.30pm (including a 30min lunch break), may include some weekends or evenings depending on department schedule. If this occurs and results in more than 40 hours worked, overtime will be paid.
SALARY: To be discussed following application.
PERMANENCY: 8 week contract, potential for extension depending on departmental needs.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Omnifilm Entertainment seeks a well-organised, and creatively engaged administrative assistant for the scripted development department. We are looking for someone with previous experience in traditional production office responsibilities, and a strong interest in scripted television.

DUTIES:
- DEVELOPMENT:
o Track history of all projects pitched, where pitched and reaction.
o Maintain online filing system for all documents.
o Research topics for possible development avenues.
o Order research material.
o Maintain submissions log.
o Read and evaluate underlying material and write coverage.
o Build development schedules and keep track of progress.

- PRODUCTION:
o Book venues and coordinate logistics for writing rooms.
o Build talent lists specific to project, e.g. suitable DOP candidates.
o Liaise with agents to check availabilities, gather work samples/reels and coordinate interviews if necessary.
o Distribute reminders, synopses and trailers of scripted show releases to corporate team.

- TALENT & TARGETS:
o Update information on Writers, Agents, Broadcasters with contact intel, latest industry intel, meeting notes etc.
o Monitor and actively research talent and industry news specific to buyers we target, e.g. development deals, new hires, picked up series, show renewals and cancellations etc.
o Maintain online filing system for all talent samples.

- BUSINESS TRIPS:
o Schedule and coordinate trips for pitching, conferences and other industry events.
o Liaise with travel agent to schedule travel and accommodation for these trips.

- DEPARTMENT GENERAL ADMINISTRATION:
o Book internal calls/meetings for development team and external calls/meetings for development team with talent, broadcasters, and potential partners.
o Event planning.
o Supporting the team with adhoc administrative tasks.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Be a resident of Vancouver British Columbia.
- Have experience in production within the production team.
- Have strong administrative skills with Microsoft word, outlook and excel.
- Have good understanding of production and professional protocols.
- Have good understanding of key roles within production.
- Be highly organized, detail-orientated, and able to multitask.
- Be punctual, reliable, professional and a strong communicator.

PREFERENCE GIVEN TO APPLICANTS WITH THE FOLLOWING:
- An educational degree or diploma in the field of film and/or television.
- Skills in other computer programs such as Adobe and Photoshop.

Omnifilm's teen drama EDGEMONT, discovered both Kristin Kreuk (Beauty and the Beast, Smallville) and Grace Park (Hawaii 5-0, Battlestar Galactica).
