Job Description

We are seeking to recruit for our up-and-coming Subtitling/Captioning Department.

Daily Transcription believes there is an ever-growing need to provide quality "broadcast-quality captions."

We want Subtitler and Caption Transcriptionists that take the same pride in their work with 100% accuracy.

We are seeking:

Bilingual Subtitlers
Captioners for English to English (a plus if you have a foreign language expertise)

Please let us know your second language when applying.

You will be required to create, reformat and edit captions for videos to be distributed on a variety of platforms. The captions and subtitles must represent perfect English grammar, and you will need to be able to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, syntax, and individual clients' captioning style.

As part of the role, you will be responsible for managing tight deadlines, scheduling, and integrating technology effectively, while communicating with Daily Transcription Project Coordinators.

The ideal candidate is very detail oriented and is able to shift priorities as required on a daily basis to accommodate the changing needs of our clients. The candidate thrives in a fast-paced, team-focused environment to meet needs of the client. Strong writing and editing skills preferred.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE SKILLS
Background in English
Subtitling and editing experience a bonus but not required
Fast and accurate typing skills -- minimum 60 wpm
Familiarity with using search engines to research people, places, and unfamiliar terms
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Comfortable in adapting to new software
Must follow company's and Client styles and rules for timing, placement, line breaks, caption/subtitle breaks, punctuation, grammar rules, etc.
Familiarity with names and terms associated with popular software applications (i.e: SRT, STL, DoST, BDN, ITT)
Prior experience with or understanding of closed captioning production process is also a plus
Strong Grammar and Punctuation Skills
Strong Transcription Skills
Must own or have access to one of the following Subtitle Editor, Caption Maker, Swift, or something comparable
Subtitle Transcriptionists must be bilingual in one of the following languages, Spanish, French, Italian, Arabic a plus
Caption Transcriptionists knowledge of another language is a huge asset

Able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, completing projects accurately and to the deadline with minimal supervision
Proactive, flexible and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Able to work independently and as a team player
Able to learn to use specific, subtitle-centric computer programs
Meticulous attention to detail and exceptional listening skills
Able to comprehend and communicate complex technical topics and specialized information

The Rate of Pay: Captioning English to English will be approx $50-$100 per 30 mins of recorded video. Subtitling will commence with the language of translation and job.
