Job Description

We are looking for a versatile creative to participate in growing the company’s video slate. The mission isn’t just to crank out a high volume of food videos. The mission is to design and build a wide variety of memorable, distinct and imaginative video series that support business goals and elevate an iconic food brand. This position needs a two-sided coin: a team player who can also break off and one-person-band it, someone who’s wildly creative and extremely organized.

Conceptualize videos in line with brand objectives.
Create, shoot, edit and produce videos.
Work directly with various TV and Video team members in a variety of roles, to create in-house videos.
Prepare for shoots, including: setup and breakdown of camera, lighting, audio, teleprompter, and related production equipment.
Assist Directors/Producers on designated shoots.
Act as camera operator, on select projects, either working independently or as part of a multi-camera shoot.
Bring a detail-oriented eye to follow scripts, shot lists and recipes for accuracy.
Edit designated video content, managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting delivery deadlines.
Work closely with Coordinator to help streamline Production and Post workflows.
Assist Coordinator in management of paperwork, assets, and related documents.
Support and sometimes run voice over records.
Keep up-to-date with current video trends (styles, equipment, software, techniques).

Must be meticulous, technical, organized, and creative at the same time.
Must be able to execute with precision and follow departmental protocol.
Must have ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve.
Must have strong communication skills.
Must have a collaborative team-oriented mentality along with the ability to work independently and under close direction.
Must have a working experience with Adobe Premiere Pro.
Excellent sense of pace and timing.
Strong storytelling skills and in particular a love of experimentation with different styles and formats.
Ability to maintain a steady hand when operating.
Conceptual and some practical knowledge of lighting.
Understanding of production audio, wireless lavs, microphone placement, levels, frequencies, etc.
Comfortable working in a shared environment alongside active test cooks on a regular basis, potentially in limited space.
Familiarity with voice over recording and dialogue editing (Adobe Audition).
Comfortable working in Adobe Creative Cloud (After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop).
Knowledge of sound design a plus.
Ability to color and sound mix a major plus.
Experienced in deadline driven environments.
Must have great communication skills and be able to give and receive critical feedback in a small team environment.
Passion for food and cooking a plus.

BA (or equivalent)
3-5 years of experience shooting and editing video content
2-4 years of experience creating food content for the web.
America’s Test Kitchen is a real place: a no-nonsense, fully equipped test kitchen located in Brookline, Massachusetts where a team of highly qualified test cooks and editors perform thousands of tests every year. The goal? To develop the best recipes and cooking techniques, recommend the best cookware and equipment, and rate brand-name pantry staples for home cooks, which are published in our two magazines, Cook’s Illustrated and Cook’s Country, in our growing line of cookbooks and special interest magazines, and on our websites, as well as featured on our public television series, America’s Test Kitchen and Cook’s Country from America’s Test Kitchen. We are devoted to a collegial approach to cooking—teams of editors, writers, and cooks engage in side-by- side comparisons, blind taste tests, and rigorous equipment tests to determine which is the best way to roast a chicken, which pans work and which ones don’t, which brand of ketchup tastes best, and so on. Our publications contain no advertising. We are a private company with no affiliations with large publishers, cookware manufacturers, or food purveyors, which means that our content is unbiased and objective.
